Slip Rings Mounted on Aerostats

2024-11-22 18:12 JINPAT

High-altitude scientific balloons and airships used in near-space missions often carry scientific payloads requiring slip rings for their operations. Near-space aerostats, particularly heavy-load aerostats, may be equipped with various electrical slip rings, such as those for attitude control systems or those needed by observation or testing equipment in the payload.

In slip ring solutions previously provided by JINPAT, many models are capable of operating reliably in the extremely low-temperature environment of near space. Among these, JINPAT frequently integrates SDI high-definition signal slip rings, primarily using multi-channel capsule and small hollow-shaft slip rings, all of which are custom-designed.

One notable product is a large-sized multi-functional integrated slip ring with a total length of 1447 mm and a maximum diameter of 390 mm. This product, developed specifically to meet the GJB technical standards for near-space environments, features a high level of integration. Its model number is LPT000-02200-08180-1060-2110-2701-22S-FO02-HF02, and it integrates a high-power module (voltage: 270 VAC), low-power signal module, optical signal module, and radio frequency (RF) signal module. The optical signal module uses a 2-channel multimode fiber optic slip ring, while the RF signal module operates at frequencies of 1.2–1.65 GHz. Notably, this RF module employs standard slip ring wiring methods rather than specialized high-frequency rotary joints.

Despite its large size and multi-functionality, the slip ring achieves a protection rating of IP65. To ensure reliability, it features a specially designed structure with individual physical isolation between modules, providing strong anti-interference capabilities. This enables the integrated slip ring to withstand vibration and shock, while also meeting EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) requirements.

In addition to such large, multi-module integrated slip rings, JINPAT offers a wide range of small integrated electrical slip rings. These products are primarily used in scientific high-altitude and near-space balloons and airships, with integrated functions varying according to application requirements.
